# Foundation & Post Base Coordination: The Timber-Specific Layout Checks Before Pour Day The fastest way to turn a smooth heavy timber install into a field-fix marathon is a foundation that is ‘close enough’ for framing but not close enough for timber posts, bases, and connection geometry. Pour day is your leverage point. A short timber-specific layout check before the pour prevents the expensive corrections later. ## Builder checklist: timber-specific layout checks before the pour ### 1. Confirm the authoritative layout reference Which gridlines, control points, and elevations are the truth? Make it explicit, and make sure the crew and survey are working from the same reference. ### 2. Verify post locations and orientation If posts are rotated, offset, or have face/finish assumptions, capture that now. Post rotation mistakes are common and painful. ### 3. Check embed-dependent connections Anchor rods, knife plates, and post base embeds must match the timber connection intent. If details are not final, decide what is assumed. ### 4.
